Ringers Western founder, James Salerno, establishes Brahman stud at Beaudesert

James Salerno Special Ringers Western Gift

James Salerno, CEO of Ringers Western, recently made a heartwarming visit to Wagga Wagga to surprise his longtime friend, John Vrolyks, with a meaningful birthday gift. Although Mr. Vrolyks celebrated his 102nd birthday in November, the real surprise came months later when James Salerno and his family arrived to celebrate in person.

A Friendship Spanning Over a Decade

The bond between James Salerno and John Vrolyks began in 2008 when Salerno met a family member of Mr. Vrolyks while serving in the Army Reserves. Over the years, their friendship remained strong, with Vrolyks becoming a significant mentor to Salerno in both business and life.

To commemorate this milestone birthday, James Salerno gifted Mr. Vrolyks and his wife, Janice, custom Ringers Western shirts emblazoned with the phrase “Centenarian and still Dutch,” a tribute to his heritage and remarkable longevity.

Australia’s Oldest Ringers Western Fan

According to James Salerno, Mr. Vrolyks holds a special place in the Ringers Western community as its oldest customer. The two have shared many memorable moments over the years, from Vrolyks attending Salerno’s basic training graduation at Kapooka to hosting the Ringers Western team in Wagga.

“It’s always been a privilege to have John as a mentor. He once told me, ‘Things have a time,’ meaning that success and opportunities come when they are meant to. That advice has stuck with me throughout my journey with Ringers Western and beyond,” said James Salerno.

A Life Well-Lived

Born in the Netherlands, John Vrolyks migrated to Australia in 1952 and has lived in Wagga Wagga for over 40 years. Despite reaching 102 years old, he remains active, enjoying classical music and keeping up with his daily routine.

“I still feel like I’m about 80,” he said with a smile. “I walk around, do things, and live a normal life. This visit from James Salerno made my year.”

The heartfelt reunion highlights the deep friendships that James Salerno has built over the years—not only in business but in the communities he supports.
